Dressing provide:

Enhanced Wound Healing
For Silverlon® Wound Care Products
to be effective and non-adhering, the dressings must remain
moist. Sterile Water is recommended as the wetting
agent. The chloride ion in normal saline reacts with metallic
silver to form a precipitate of silver chloride on the metallic silver
surface and subsequently reduces the number of silver ions released.
Silverlon® has been shown to release in vitro silver ions for
up to twelve days, however when applied to clinical wounds, the longevity
of the Silverlon® Wound Care Products depends upon the amount of exudates
and cellular debris that cover the silver plated fibers of the fabric.
When the silver coated fibers become covered, silver ions are not released
and the antimicrobial efficiency decreases.
Silverlon® Wound Contact Dressing
Product Description
Silverlon®
Wound Contact Dressings are composed of knitted fabrics that are flexible,
minimally adhering, antimicrobial silver plated fabric. The knitted
fabric is composed of pure nylon base fiber that is 100% covered uniformly
and circumferentially with a thin coat of pure metallic silver approximately
(4/100,000 inch). Analysis of the Silverlon® surface reveals 99.1%
pure metallic silver and 0.9% silver oxide. The open knit pattern of
the fabric permits passage of oxygen and fluids to and from the wound
surface. The silver provides the effective antimicrobial action of
the dressing and functions as an antimicrobial barrier.
FDA Approved Indications
For local management of full and
partial thickness wounds, partial thickness burns, incisions, skin grafts,
donor sites, lacerations, abrasions, and Stage I-IV dermal ulcers (vascular,
venus, pressure, and diabetic).
Clinical Application
The flexibility and elasticity
of the Silverlon® fabric allow the dressing intimate contact with the
wound surface especially in cavitary wounds such as Stage 3 and Stage
4 pressure ulcerations. The Silverlon® Wound Contact Dressing can be
covered with the routine wound fillers such as woven gauzes and pads
but also with advanced wound care products such as hydrogels, hydrocolloids,
and foams. Overlapping periwound skin by one to two centimeters enhances
analgesic effect of the dressing and also treats periwound skin with
a microbial barrier.
Sizes and Packaging Available
The Silverlon® Wound Contact Dressing
is individually packaged in foil pouches and gamma sterilized.

Clinical Application
The flexibility and elasticity
of Silverlon® allow the dressing intimate contact with the wound surface.
The Silverlon® Wound Packing Strip is loosely packed into the
wound cavity functioning more as a wound filler. Sinus tracts, narrow
tunneling and diabetic ulcerations are ideal for the Silverlon® wound
Packing Strip. The packing strip is covered with the routine woven
gauzes, pads or advanced wound care products such as film hydrogels,
hydrocolloids, and foams.
Silverlon® Wound Pad Dressing
Product Description
Silverlon®
Wound Pad Dressing is a multilaminate, antimicrobial, absorbent wound
dressing that consists of Silverlon® fabric (similar to the Silverlon®
Wound Contact Dressing) as the wound contact layer, an absorbency pad
layer covered by a film urethane layer. The absorbency pad layer is
designed to absorb wound exudate and fluids. The urethane film layer
controls the moisture evaporation from the pad. The film urethane layer
has multiple 5 mm slits that allow wetting the pad without removal of
the dressing.
FDA Approved Indications
For local
management of full and partial thickness wounds, partial thickness burns,
incisions, skin grafts, donor sites, lacerations, abrasions, and Stage
I-IV dermal ulcers (vascular, venus, pressure, and diabetic).

Clinical Application
The Silverlon® Wound Pad is designed
primarily for post surgical wounds and flat wounds. The slits in the
backing layer of film polyurethane allow moistening of the dressing
without removal from the wound surface. The slits also provide for
drainage of excessive wound exudate to reduce the risk of periwound
skin maceration. Overlapping periwound skin by one to two centimeters
enhances analgesic effect of the dressing and also treats periwound
skin with a microbial barrier.
Silverlon® Island Dressing
Product Description
Silverlon®
Island Dressing is a multilaminate, antimicrobial, absorbent wound dressing
that consists of Silverlon® fabric (similar to the Silverlon® Wound
Contact Dressing) as the wound contact layer, an absorbency pad layer
covered by a film urethane layer and a backing layer composed of a non-woven
elastomeric polyurethane adhesive tape. The absorbency pad layer is
designed to absorb wound exudate and fluids. The urethane film layer
controls the moisture evaporation from the pad. The non-woven elastomeric
polyurethane backing tape secures the dressing in place.
FDA Approved Indications
